Russell-Silver Syndrome

Russell-Silver Syndrome (RSS) was founded by Dr. Henry K. Silver and Dr. alexander Russell in 1953/1954 respectively. The incidence rate of RSS is projected at 1in 50,0000 to 1 in 100,000 births. Due to a large variation in phenotype and functional abnormalities, diagnoses can be difficult.

Characteristics include (in no particular order) - but are not limited to:

Low Birth Weight and Length
Bone Age Delay and Advancements
Low Muscle Tone/Mass
Poor Appetite
Gut Dysmotility
Body Assymetry
Large Head Size (disproportionate to body)
Small Triangular Face
Bossed Forehead
Cafe'-au lait spots
Clindoactyly of the 5th Finger
Early Adrenarche
Fasting Hypoglycemia
Dental Anomolies
