This community is for patients, providers, caregivers and others interested in learning more about Pre-Diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (Juvenile Diabetes), Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Gestational Diabetes, Diabetes Insipidus, Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus, Feline Diabetes, and related conditions.
The Immune Tolerance Network (ITN) is an NIH-funded international research collaboration conducting clinical trials of emerging immune tolerance therapies in transplantation, allergy and asthma and autoimmune diseases. A number of the ITN's ongoing and upcoming trials are testing groundbreaking new therapies for newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
In support of these trials, the ITN is seeking a highly motivated individual to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to generate increased awareness of ITN type 1 diabetes trials.
As part of the ITN Communications & Patient Recruitment team and reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Type 1 Diabetes Outreach Manager will conduct background and market research, leverage various existing internet resources and social media, develop and maintain relationships with type 1 diabetes advocacy groups at the local and national level, represent the ITN at relevant meetings and conferences, and provide outreach support to ITN T1D investigators. Initial priorities will include overseeing the development & marketing of a branded patient web portal for ITN type 1 diabetes trials.
This position is suited to an outgoing individual who has an intimate understanding of the type 1 diabetes patient experience and is passionate about making a difference.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree or college diploma; thorough understanding of type 1 diabetes and its impact on the health and lifestyle of individuals; basic understanding of causes and treatment of type 1 diabetes; exceptional communications skills; understanding of web and social media marketing; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
