Promoting osteopathy in Israel
Increasing public awareness of the osteopathic profession
Defining operative domains for osteopathy in Israel to protect the profession
Facilitating the establishment of osteopathic schools in Israel by disseminating information and providing professional support
Osteopathy is recognized and practiced in many countries around the world, where millions benefit from its treatments daily. The Israeli academy of osteopathic medicine seeks to advance knowledge of osteopathy among the general public and health professionals.
IAOM uses its best endeavours to sustain standards of professionalism and ethics among osteopathic practitioners through admission tests for new osteopaths and by ensuring that its members adheres to a binding code of ethics.
In Israel, only a few dozen osteopaths practice today, their small number making osteopathy inaccessible for most of the population. By comparison, in Britain, for example, the ratio of osteopaths per population is 12 times what it is in Israel.
Alternative medicine is capable of achievements, recognition and visibility as demonstrated by the emergence of the sector in Israel over the past few decades, particularly since the establishment of schools for training in various alternative methods.
