Indiana University National Center of Excellence in Women's Health

The MISSION of the Indiana University National Center of Excellence in Women's Health (IU CoE) to improve the health of Indiana women. The IU CoE is positioned to become a thought leader working to answer challenges and tackle the issues and barriers causing Indiana's women to receive a failing grade in women's health as reported by "Making the Grade for Women's Health". The IU CoE is working to raise this failing report grade to an A so that the health status of Indiana women is among the best in the nation - within the top ten.
Through collaboration, Indiana stakeholders will find innovative ideas to improve the status of women's health in the state based upon research and best practices.

The IU National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health (IU CoE) has funding available for the planning and implementation of regional community-based women’s health coalitions, one for each of Indiana’s ten public health preparedness districts. Project INFluence (Indiana Female Leaders Unite) provides an avenue by which Hoosier women (leaders in government, business, health care, education, media, and faith-based and community organizations) are educated about critical women’s health issues, given a charge to educate about and advocate for women’s health in their own spheres of influence, and provided with resources to help them accomplish this goal. It also provides a platform for health care professional education forums to occur.

The purpose of the Project INFluence Community Coalition Initiative is to encourage local communities, through partnership and collaboration, to address women’s health issues at the local level. Through the formation of local women’s health coalitions (or through the extension of existing coalitions), the IU CoE hopes a greater impact on the women’s health topics addressed by this initiative will be experienced.
