Things I don’t ever want to see 20 minutes before boxing class at 6am for which I rousted myself at 5am include the following:

The downturn was all caused by the high in the middle of the night which I corrected around 3am, sending me steadily lower for the next few hours. Fortunately, I was able to make it through my workout by turning my basals down 75% for an hour and choking down one stale piece of licorice from my car’s glove compartment (I didn’t want to have a GU – too many carbs in a full one and didn’t want to waste it by only having half a packet). And thankfully, the strategy worked and I didn’t rebound with an off-the-charts high number which can happen easily in these situations.

But there’s nothing quite like the “oh EFF this” feeling you get when this happens right before a workout…especially so doggone early! Grrrrr!

Good for you to figure it out and get your workout in!! I ate like 15 glucose tabs during a spin class last week to treat a stubborn low, but I was determined to finish the class and not let D ruin a good workout!
