If you are reading this, then you already know that DoctorBase is an excellent site to find information on doctors, dentists, and medical/dental related topics. If you want more, you can even ask a professional a personal question! But what if you are the type of person who likes to do a lot of research? Here is my list of dental related websites that offer professional advise:
The oldest and largest dental organization in the nation, this site has information for kids, teachers, and employers. You can search for dental health topics that interest you and get product recommendations. This site also has a Spanish version.
Colgate Oral and Dental Health Resource Center
Even though this site is sponsored by Colgate and does promote their products, it does have a lot of useful information such as explaining dental procedures, videos that show you how to brush and floss properly, and interactive guides that include quizzes on everything from taking care of braces to bad breath.
World Health Organization (WHO)
WHO has an oral health section that focuses on disease prevention and health. Since this site is devoted to world health, you can learn about what other countries are doing to promote healthy mouths. Recent topic have included fluoride use in China, and oral health considerations for the elderly.
Sponsored by Aetna Dental Insurance, this site is a user-friendly site that aims to educate the general population on how to prevent and understand dental problems, as well as exploring different treatment options. There are many informative articles and videos. You do not have to be an Aetna subscriber to use this website.
American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA)
This site has a great section just for kids. Children can learn about teeth, how to take care of them, and even play some fun dental games!
