I am blogging from sunny Los Angeles this weekend where I am attending a Board Meeting for GLMA. We have had a great meeting as well as a successful reception last night with local LGBT health professionals at The Abbey. I wanted to also send out some LGBT health updates I becase aware of which you may find interesting.
National LGBT Health week will be March 26-30, 2012. Keep a lookout from GLMA and The National Coalition for LGBT Health for event updates, resources and more information.
LGBT health and Nursing - GLMA's Emily Kane-Lee and Carey Bayer, EdD, RN,CSE coauthored an article about addressing the needs of LGBT patients in Nursing Management. Be on the lookout for this in February.
Additionally, Mickey Eliason, Sue Dibble and Peggy Chinn wrote an editorial for Nursing Made Incredibly Easy to share how nurses can lead processes to create inclusive environments for LGBT patients. The editorial is scheduled to appear in the March/April issue.
Don't forget to submit an abstract for a workshop or for original research on LGBT health and health equailty for GLMA's 30th annual conference in October 2012 in San Francisco, CA. The website is at www.glma.org.
