StarDental® has made recent handpiece donations to two great causes, the La Cucarita Dental Clinic in the Dominican Republic and the Visitation Clinic in Haiti.
In December, we donated 4 high-speed handpieces to Daniel A. Shalkey, DDS for the La Cucarita Mission in the diocese of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. The mission is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Orlando.
Dr. Shalkey will visit the mission twice this year and is the only dentist serving a population of roughly 375 children. Sister Bernadette Mackay is the director of the mission that supplies education, housing, medical and dental care, and water purification to communities in the central mountains of the Dominican Republic. You can contact afarrell@orlandodiocese.org to learn more about participating in the mission, or visit Orlando Diocese.org to make a donation.
In January, we donated low- and high-speed handpieces to Betsy Barcroft DDS, MS for the Visitation Clinic in Petite Riviere Haiti. The clinic has been providing low-cost, high quality primary healthcare to a large impoverished region in rural Haiti. In 2012, the Visitation Hospital Foundation plans to create a fully-equipped dental suite at the Visitation Clinic, and to provide regular services by visiting dentists. Visit VisitationHospital.org for more information or to contribute to the cause.
