What can I substitute for ibuprofen?

I have high normal blood pressure or pre-hypertensive, am in my 50s. I have always taken quite a bit of advil for muscle aches and headaches. I don't know what else would work as well.

Could you consult your physician and ask him to screen you for microalbuminuria or renal function? and see whether there are any abnormalities from long term advil usage?
then decide upon the appropriate medication in consultation with your primary physician

Definitely talk to your doctor about this. Ibuprofen is an NSAID -- a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for pain or inflammation. I assume you are using this for both symptoms?

One of the things you better be watching for when taking Advil is your liver function. I know this because I give my twins Ibuprofen twice a day and have been doing this for 3 years. We have to watch liver function with chronic treatment with NSAIDs. I worry about it a lot!

You may want to start to look into natural anti-inflammatory types of compounds -- ie: Curcumin,(LongVida), Green Tea (Teavigo), and anti-oxidants like blueberries, etc. You can probably change some things in your diet that could help you a lot.

Before my kids became sick with a fatal cholesterol disease four years ago, I was not very open to natural types of therapies. I thought it was nuts! Boy, was I uninformed.

    Take care!
