What could cause white spots on legs and arms and chest only after tanning?

    It is very possible that you have a fungal skin infection. When the fungus is on the skin, it blocks the rays of the sun leaving that spot white in appearance as it can not tan.

    As mentioned above, this is likely tinea versicolor, a fungus that lives on your skin. It is (usually) benign and does not need to be treated unless you do not like it cosmetically. It can be very difficult to eradicate though.
