Hi.
What time of day does this need to eat occur? How long does it last? What are the triggers for this need to eat?. What is your regular meal plan for a typical day? Do you feel guilty or relieved after eating?
Has there been any recent changes in your life? Is there any history of stress/anxiety? Has there been any emotional stressors? Has there been any change in your mood? Do you feel bored or lonely?
Do you have an exercise regime or an activity that reduces stress?
Do you have a weight issue? Do you have an eating disorder? Do you have any disease, such as a thyroid or hormonal disorder?
Are you on any medicines?
Sometimes the need to eat may occur due to emotional changes, stress, anxiety or loneliness.
It may be advisable to keep a food journal of what you eat, the time you eat it and the mood you felt before and after eating. Identifying the trigger is important.
Exercise/stress relieving activities may be helpful. A talk with a dietitian may be helpful also.
And don't forget talk therapy is good for relieving stress. Visiting a counsellor or psychotherapist may be beneficial.
