Stopped Taking Xyzal and I'm Itching

I stopped taking Xyzal 3 days ago for allergy testing next week. Two days ago I started itching pretty much all over my body. The itching is really bad and I have red bumps. I also developed an exzema rash under my arms and inside my left elbow. Why is this happening?

  • When I went to my allergy testing, I complained, quite passionately, to my allergist about all the itching. I felt stupid when she explained to me that it was an allergic reaction, which can cause itching. The itching stopped 20 min after a nice dose of liquid Xyzal. I was prescribed a steroid cream for the rashes, which are going away.

Please let me know if you found something for this as I also suffer from intense itching even after 1 missed dose and the only relief is to take the xyzal. This has become a major issue and am looking for recommendations from others.

I'm sorry you're having problems with itching from Xyzal. I know it can get intense. Unfortunately I haven't found a resolve for it. I've been taking Xyzal for over a year and I've only had one really bad episode of itching, the rest are just bothersome. I get anaphylactic reactions (I carry an EpiPen) and sometimes I get mild reactions that I can treat with 50-100mg of Benadryl early on, so I always have Benadryl with me. If I miss a dose of Xyzal and the itches start, I'm always prepared!

I hope you find something that helps you..
