How long can Minocycline be effective as an acne treatment?

My friend (also female) has been on minocycline for 2 years to treat her acne and I think this to be a bit excessive. I know that antibiotics become less effective the longer you are on them... so is this drug still helping her acne at all?

If not, when/how should she stop taking it? Weaning off or stopping cold turkey? I should also mention that she still has acne and isn't excited by the idea of it getting worse by stopping the minocycline.
