Is the IUD more effective than sterilization?
I heard that a woman is less likely to get pregnant if she has an Intrauterine Device (IUD), than if she is sterilized. Is this true?

answered Jan 20, 2010 at 03:32PMTubal ligation remains the most effective method of contraception, with a failure rate of 1 in 300 to 1 in 500 depending on method and timing. IUD failure rate is more like 1 in 100. However, since the risks are lower from an IUD, the total risk to benefit may be better for many women. -
