Is bacterial meningitis contagious?

I'd like to know if as a school principal I should be worried about my students if their teacher has bacterial meningitis. If it is what precautions should I take.

Yes, bacterial meningitis is very contagious. Students are at high risk, which is why the vaccination is so important in this population. Teachers should get vaccinated as well, because of thier exposure to potentially infected students.

Any individual with known bacterial meningitis, has no business at school until they are treated and cleared by thier healthcare professional
