No, there is no shortage. Why? Because there is plenty of raw materials. Where did you hear that there was a shortage?

A few drug reps here in Oklahoma City where talking about it . It was said that some of the raw materials were being used for another needed drug leaving a shortage for manufacturing of Zovirax. I work at the Trauma Center and thought it interesting that there could be such a shortage and wondered which compound was is such demand.

    Renee,

The FDA announced in February 2009 (one year ago) that there was a potential shortage of IV Acyclovir (Zovirax). This shortage was resolved by April 2009. It did not effect oral Acyclovir availability at all.
