    Technically, yes. There are variants of the varricella virus which causes chicken pox. Usually, once exposed or vaccinated, your body develops an immune response and you have natural protection. Clinically, if there are multiple episodes of chicken pox, the physician need to evaluate the immune response of the patient. There may be something compromising the immune system.

    Reactivation of the herpes zoster virus (the one that causes chicken pox) can occur later in life, or sometimes as the result of stress, and is generally referred to as "shingles". This is a relatively common and often debilitating condition when compared to chicken pox, with many people developing continual pain for life. There is now a shingles vaccination offered usually above the age of 55 years which is fairly effective.
