There is no harm to eliminating it if you are not diagnosed with the disease. There are may family members who will give up gluten in order for their wife/husband/mother/father/sister/brother to have a totally uncontaminated environment. There is not need to eat gluten as long as you are replacing it with adequate grains (quinoa, millet, buckwheat, oats, etc).
