Medpedia Uses and How you Get Recognition

The mission of Medpedia is to openly share and advance medical knowledge. There are many ways you will be recognized for your contributions and expertise:

Physicians and Ph.D.s in a Biomedical Field

  • Get listed in the Medpedia Directory – Create a professional profile and be known for your specialties and expertise.
  • Edit Article pages – Edits you make to the collaborative encyclopedia are automatically seen by others and recorded in the History of the Article page forever.
  • Be a Lead Editor of an Article – Your name and a link to your professional profile will appear prominently in the upper right of the Article page. Links to these articles will appear on your professional profile.
  • Be the Originating Author of an Article – Your name will be permanently recorded on the Originating Authors List on Medpedia. Your name will also appear prominently in the upper right of the article page. Links to these articles will appear on your professional profile.
  • Create or join Topic Committees – Others in your area of expertise will know your name as a peer.
  • Be on the Board of a Topic Committee – Raise your visibility in the community and among peers as a leading expert in a topic area.
  • Reserve online working spaces (“Groups”) inside Medpedia - These are customizable professional networks for your working groups and organizations. Get recognized as a member or principal and lead discussions with peers.
  • Lead the discussions in Communities of Interest – Participate in ongoing discussions among professionals and patients around conditions, products, procedures, lifestyles, etc. and get recognized for your expertise.

All Medical Professionals

  • Get listed in the Medpedia Directory – Create a professional profile and be known for your specialties and expertise.
  • Suggest Changes to Articles – Changes you suggest (if approved by Editors) will seen by others and recorded in the History of the Article page forever.
  • Reserve online working spaces (“Groups”) inside Medpedia – These are customizable professional networks for your working groups and organizations. Raise your visibility as a member or principal and lead discussions with peers.
  • Lead the discussions in Communities of Interest – Participate in ongoing discussions among professionals and patients around conditions, products, procedures, lifestyles, etc. and get recognized for your expertise.

Organizations, Companies and Associations

  • Create a free customizable professional network for members or employees – An organization or company can create a free online presence on Medpedia, and communicate securely with members and/or recruit new members.
  • Get members and employees listed in the Medpedia Directory – Give them free professional profiles and help them build their reputations.
  • Edit Article pages – Organizations can get credit for their contributions to the collaborative encyclopedia, just as individuals do. Edits are automatically seen by others and recorded in the History of the Article page forever.
  • Be a Lead Editor of an Article – An organization can have an individual Editor claim Lead Editorship of an Article page on behalf of an organization so that the organization’s name appears prominently in the upper right of the Article page.
  • Be the Originating Author of an Article – Organizations can contribute whole Article pages and receive Originating Author credit. The Editor who submits it along with the organization’s name be permanently recorded on the Originating Authors List on Medpedia -- e.g. “John M. Smith, MD (on behalf of the American Heart Association).” In addition, this title will be included in the Lead Editors box in the upper right of the article page.
  • Appoint members or employees to Topic Committees – Organizations and companies can have members or employees participate on their behalf and get recognized among peers as a leading expert in a topic area.
  • Lead the discussions in Communities of Interest – Companies and Organizations can encourage staff and members to participate in ongoing discussions among professionals and patients around conditions, products, procedures, lifestyles, etc. and get recognized for their members’ expertise.

Everyone

  • Suggest Changes to Article pages – Changes you suggest—if approved by Editors—will seen by others and recorded in the History of the Article page forever. These approved edits will accrue to your profile on Medpedia.
  • Be Active in Communities of Interest – Participate in ongoing discussions among professionals and patients around conditions, products, procedures, lifestyles, etc. and get recognized for your knowledge and expertise.
