About me
In 2008 I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. I have since completed chemotherapy and am considered to be in remission. I am a former nurse (haven't worked in the medical field for 20 years, though!) but now I teach and write. I am still in denial about being 53 but I do love having grandbabies to snuggle with and they have a wonderful way of distracting me from my 'woe is me moments!'
Why I participate in Medpedia
I am not sure at this point, other than I heard that I can have an opportunity to encourage and support women who face the same dratted diagnosis that I had. If I can be a spark that might give a little hope - then it will be all worth while! I am a speaker for National Ovarian Cancer Canada and enjoy lifting spirits and encouraging women to become more aware of their own bodies. What else do you want to know?
