Professional summary
My primary medical interest is a newer field called Medical Ecology (I am very interested in Women's Health as subset of Medical Ecology). A Medical Ecologist views human health in the context of the health of the greater ecosystem. Some people view Medical Ecologists as striving to reconcile the health of humans with the health of the ecosystem. Medical Ecology is organized into four main areas: 1) Emerging Infectious Disease, 2) Large Scale Environmental Change, 3) Pesticides and Toxins, and 4) Biophilia. Of these four, my favorite is Biophilia (or the sense of well-being humans get from interacting with the natural world). I lecture and write in this field. I trained in Family and Community Medicine and worked in academia for a decade before I lost the faith. Now I train and ride horses, patrol for the state parks, and teach when I have time. I also am the Editor-in-Chief of a magazine. I see patients a small amount locally to keep up my primary care skills.
