Zarya Alexandra Rubin MD
Medical Science Liaison - CNS Division, UCB
New York, NY
Professional summary
After receiving my professional training in neurology with a specialization in epilepsy, I decided to leave the world of academia and clinical practice behind and attempt to make a larger impact on global health issues via the world of public health research and health disparities. For three years, I served as the Director of Medical Affairs and Grant Development at LanguageMate (www.languagemate.com), a small, NIH-funded public health company that focuses on using innovative technology to bridge the language gap in healthcare and health education. Currently, I am a CNS Medical Science Liaison with UCB, acting as the scientific interface between the pharmaceutical company and key opinion leaders in the epilepsy and movement disorder fields. I have practiced medicine in several countries in three languages, and my areas of interest include linguistic research and psychiatric issues in medicine. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to complete a meta-analysis on bilingual language processing with Dr. Brenda Milner at the Montreal Neurological Institute, and to train with Dr. Fred Andermann and Dr. Frank Gilliam, in the world of epilepsy. Current interests include epilepsy, pharmaceutical industry, medical writing and advertising.
