Professional summary
I was a primary care physician in SE Queensland Australia until about 2000 when failed back syndrome prevented my working full time. I became interested in Medical Informatics as a diversion from chronic disabling neuropathic pain. I founded Virtual Practice an online medical and allied health record management system - records in the cloud. The paradigm shift is that the patient is the centre of the equation - various carers write to the patient record rather than to their own. The patient record mimics the credit card - it is used by the various operators for their own purposes which business purposes are disparate and distinct. The patient record reflects all activity relating to that patient and is available to the carers of that patient anywhere anytime. The business activities of the users of the record are separate and disparate.
