Tim Gerrity is currently the director of the Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization at CSUSB. Over his career, he has held multiple positions in academia, government, and industry focusing respectively on translational medical research, science and technology management and policy, and medical device commercialization. He began his career as a pulmonary physiologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Medicine and then went on to the US Environmental Protection Agency, where he pioneered new methods for diagnosing human lung diseases as well as assessing the human health effects of air pollution. Later, his expertise in R&D management led to his eventual appointment as Assistant Chief Research and Development Officer for the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of R&D, a national biomedical, health services, and rehabilitation research program. Later, he became the founding director of the Bioengineering Institute at Worcester Polytechnic Institute
