The editor in chief of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) since 1998, Dr. D’Alonzo directs the editorial content of all AOA publications, including JAOA—The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, The DO and their supplements. Established in 1901, the JAOA is the osteopathic medical profession’s premier peer-reviewed journal. The DO is the profession’s leading news and feature magazine. Under Dr. D’Alonzo’s leadership, the AOA has launched four publications: The Whole Patient (which is The DO’s supplement), AOA Health Watch, AOA’s Women and Wellness and Dialogue and Diagnosis. Dr. D'Alonzo also chairs the JAOA Editorial Advisory Board and JAOA Editorial Board. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the development of future editions of the AOA’s Foundations of Osteopathic Medicine, which is one of the textbooks used in osteopathic medical colleges to educate students about the fundamental concepts of osteopathic medicine. An investigator in dozens of clinical research projects on pulmonary diseases, Dr. D’Alonzo is widely published both within and outside the osteopathic medical profession. In addition to the JAOA, the medical journals that have published Dr. D’Alonzo’s articles include Chest, and JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association.
